L-42/46 Split Packing Nut
Refiner Products Manufacturing (RPM) has provided help on refiner systems to the wood products industry since the company began in May 1988. RPM has modified the designs and application of Sunds Metso refiners to allow for more production and more efficient operation.
In 1999, a customer in the Midwest upgraded their L-36 Defibrator to an L-42 Defibrator through RPM. When the mechanics saw the reconditioned defibrator, they immediately asked why it did not have a split packing nut. RPM informed them that Sunds Metso did not design the L-42, L-44, and L-46 Defibrators with a split nut. The customer did not accept this reason and asked RPM to design a split version for the L-42 Defibrator.
Immediately, RPM designed a split nut that would work on the L-42 / L-46 Defibrators.
This design work continued our effort to help the mills that do not have the luxury of upgrading to the next series Defibrator, but need to get the most out of what they already own.
