Refiner Products Manufacturing (RPM) has provided help on refiner systems to the wood products industry since the company began in May 1988. RPM has modified the designs and application of Sprout Waldron refiners to allow for more production and more efficient operation.
In 2006, a customer in the Midwest US was not happy with the steam usage on their Sprout Waldron 42-1CP refiner. They asked RPM to help them devise a solution that would not reduce their production, but help them reduce steam usage. Based on success of the high compaction screw in mills with other types of refiners, RPM and the mill decided to try the technology in Sprout refiners. Without any production loss, the mill was able to reduce steam flow to each digester by 50 percent!
This modification work continued our effort to help the mills that do not have the luxury of upgrading to the next size Defibrator, but need to be the most efficient with the series equipment they presently own.
