CONVERSION FROM 20” PLUG SCREW TO 18” PLUG SCREW
Refiner Products Manufacturing (RPM) has provided help on screwfeeder systems to the wood products industry since the company began in May 1988. RPM has modified the designs and application of Andritz Sprout -Bauer screwfeeders to allow for more production and more efficient operation.
In 2003 a customer in the Southeastern US was not happy with the performance of their Andritz Sprout -Bauer oversized plug screw and wanted help improving the screwfeeder operation. RPM was asked to help them devise a solution that would allow them to feed their wood requirements in the most efficient manner. Utilizing a proven design, a new replaceable throat insert was fitted to a worn out plug throat and then matched to a smaller 18” plug screw. This solution, based on proper plug screw sizing, allowed the mill to efficiently feed wood at the needed production rate while reducing the total power consumption.
This modification work continued RPM’s effort to help the mills utilize their current equipment in the most efficient manner.
