Refiner Products Manufacturing (RPM) has provided help on refiner systems to the wood products industry since the company began in May 1988. RPM has modified the designs and application of Sunds Metso refiners to allow for more production and more efficient operation.
In 1996, a customer in the Midwest was not happy about having to change the entire Sunds Metso screw feeder assembly when the cartridge bearing had failed. RPM was asked to design a way that the mill could change out only the cartridge bearing and leave the feed box in place. Using a proven idea from other systems, RPM designed a split packing box arrangement for Sunds Metso machines that allowed for the removal of the cartridge bearing while leaving the feed box in place.
