Gary Prue

Gary Prue started his career with Durametal Corporation in 1977 and spent 24 years in various technical and sales management positions.  He has developed a strong process understanding for all refining applications with a primary focus to the fiberboard industry.  He developed unique operator training programs and spent much of his time teaching refiner operators how to optimize and improve their refiner systems.

Gary has an extensive background in working with mills in the U.S., Canada, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America.  He joined RPM as Western Regional Manager in January of 2008 and brings his strong process knowledge and global experience to assist RPM in its growth and success.

1977-1989

  • Joined Durametal Corporation as a machinist
  • Became Durametal first safety director and developed their first safety program.
  • Took on the role of production scheduling and inventory control and inside customer service for Brake drums, Refiner plates and wear products divisions
  • Sales Manager for the Brake drum division

1989-1992

  • West Coast salesman for refiner plate division servicing the Western states and Western Canada in pulp, paper and fiberboard applications
  • International Sales manager responsible for developing markets in SE Asia, Australia, new Zealand and South America
  • Andritz Inc. purchased Durametal Corporation in 1992 and Gary began supporting the capital equipment efforts primarily in the MDF industry

1993-2001

  • Developed strong growth for Durametal refiner plates primarily in the Asian and Australasian fiberboard division
  • Involved with Andritz MDF system start up and new technology refiner plate design development
  • Developed comprehensive refiner operator training and process optimization programs for the fiberboard markets.
  • Involved with extensive refiner operator training in process controls and optimization Worldwide

2002-2004

  • Global Product Manager for Andritz (Durametal) with responsibility to develop and manage all aspects of the fiberboard division Worldwide.

2004-2006

  • Joined J&L Fiber services as manager of the fiberboard division responsible for developing the refiner plate markets globally

2006-2007

  • Independent consultant for the fiberboard industry working with some of the major  MDF and fiberboard mills throughout North America and Australia

2008

  • Joined RPM as regional manager supporting the Western US and Western Canadian mills for pulp, paper and fiberboard
